The Sir Seewoosagur Botanical Garden was inaugurated as a private garden by the French governor of Mauritius 300 years ago, later to become the National Botanical Garden in his honor and in recognition of his efforts given to the Nation to become independent. The botanical garden stretches over acres of endless land. Take your time and relax among more than 650 species including the famous Baobabs, the Palm Bottle, Water lilies, medicinal plants, a large garden of spices and many others. In this authentic garden, the rectangular pool of hundreds of giant water lilies is the most famous place in the garden, offering plenty of opportunities to take that picture-perfect.

Guides are available at the entrance of the garden, offering a complete visit and their excellent knowledge on all the species of the garden, originating mainly from Mauritius but also from many countries of the world. The collection of palm trees is extensive and shows many differences which will surprise you more than once. Do not miss the crocodile palm whose face looks like the mouth of a crocodile! Another definite must-see in the park is the beautiful lotus lake. Finally, you can visit the castle of Mon Plaisir where you can find many interesting exhibitions. This garden is a haven of peace allowing you to enjoy a relaxing time with your family or friends under the shadows of trees.

Le jardin botanique de Pamplemousses est un véritable paradis des plantes ! On y retrouve de nombreuses espèces d’arbres, de plantes médicinales, ou encore de fleurs. Nous avons adoré notre promenade agréable et relaxante. A faire et à refaire !
