Get to know the story of Mauritian sugar and vanilla at Domaine Saint Aubin.
This beautiful house in colonial style was built in 1819 and used to be the home of several managers of the sugar estate. Unlike Domaine de Aubineaux, being the first stop along the tea route, this domain belonged to an estate producing sugar and delicious rum alike. The distillery can also be visited during your tour around the colonial house, which still is in a very good condition. In addition to the sugar and rum production, you will also learn more about the way vanilla is extracted from the vanilla orchid.
